This hand made sterling silver pendant, called Breath of Life, Breath of Death, is inspired by theĀ culture of the Aztec people. ItĀ honors theĀ medicine of the Mictlantechtli and Mictlantecihuat, and is embedded with jade, amber, and red jasper stones.
In Aztec mythology, Mictlantechtli and MictlantecihuatĀ represent both the female and male, and the negative and positive aspects of death. They are the guardians of the spirit realm, lords of the underground - the ones that receive you when you cross over and decide where you go.
Jade, amber, and red jasper stones are revered by ancient peoples for their healing and spiritual properties.
This pendant is intricately craftedĀ by an artisan based in Mexico in collaboration with Anahuac Arts.
